Privacy Policy

Effective 24 July 2026

This policy covers Tonaly Tune ("the app"), published by Tonaly ("we", "us"), an independent project, not a registered company. It applies to this app only; other Tonaly apps have their own privacy policies.

The short version

We do not collect any data. The app has no accounts, makes no network connections, and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. Everything the app does happens entirely on your device.

The app uses your device's microphone to work out the pitch of your instrument. That audio is analysed as it arrives and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted.

Information we collect

None. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or usage data. We do not have servers that receive data from the app.

The app saves your preferences — such as your selected instrument, reference pitch, and theme — on your device only, using the operating system's standard local storage. This information never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or to anyone else.

Microphone

The app needs microphone access to do its job: it listens to the note you play and measures how far it is from the pitch you are aiming for.

  • Audio is processed live, on your device, and discarded immediately.
  • Nothing is written to disk. The app creates no recordings and no audio files.
  • No audio, and no information derived from it, is ever sent off your device.

The app has no networking code of any kind.

  • The microphone is used only while you are actively tuning. The app stops

listening when you stop it or leave the app.

iOS will ask your permission before the app can use the microphone, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Without it, the app cannot detect pitch — that is its only function — but you can still use it to sound reference tones.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for all ages, including children, and is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's requirements for apps that may appeal to children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects no personal information from children. Microphone audio is never recorded or transmitted, so no recordings of a child's voice or playing can be created, stored, or shared.

Third parties

The app includes no third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics services. No data is shared with third parties because no data is collected.

Permissions

The app requests one permission: access to the microphone, for live pitch detection as described above. It does not access your camera, location, contacts, photos, health data, or any other sensitive resource.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the support page listed below.
